Hailing from Bangor and Donaghdee in Northern Ireland, the three piece consists of Alex Trimble, Sam Halliday and Kevin Baird. For now, listen to “Are We Ready? (Wreck)” below and rejoice that Two Door Cinema Club has returned.With their unique brand of electro pop rock, Two Door Cinema Club have found a legion of fans in the UK, Ireland, America and beyond. It’s safe to assume a massive tour will follow at some point as well, so stay tuned for any details on that front. On Thursday, they’ll headline night one of Firefly down in Delaware, part of a load of festival dates they’re scheduled for this summer. Locally, we haven’t had a taste of Two Door since they rocked the Tower Theater in October of 2013. That all changed in maybe the coolest fashion ever back in April, when they secretly posed as the cover band “Tudor Cinema Club” and played a few tiny pubs around Ireland - the same pubs they played when they were just starting out as a band. Not only has the band been dormant in the studio, but before a few months ago they hadn’t played a gig in more than two years. It’s fast paced and retains the sound Two Door has gone for since Tourist History, their 2010 debut LP. I’ve been waiting patiently for this moment since Beacon came out back in 2012, and while I could do without the kids repeatedly chanting throughout the chorus, “Are We Ready? (Wreck)” is everything I’ve been hoping for.
The band also announced the new album Gameshow will be out October 14th. “Are We Ready? (Wreck)” debuted Tuesday night on BBC Radio 1 and is now available for streaming.
